I
started out like many in the mid seventies not knowing what I wanted
to do and ended up doing an apprenticeship in engineering and metalwork
where I learnt my welding skills I still use to this day.
After various jobs in the motor trade I went back to college to do
a building course, this involved all the main building trades, after
which I went back to the motor trade for a while as a car sprayer,
I was asked to build their offices when they found out what I could
do and then got the bug for building.
1981 saw me pack up work and go self employed, mainly because everyone
around me was having work done and started taking on smaller jobs
Since then I have done many projects, to many to mention here although
the archive page shows the most recent.
My first love is carpentry and have done everything from hanging doors
to massive loft conversions, oak framed building repairs and joinery,
I have had a small joinery workshop for 12 years, although not a commercial
workshop, many a fine job has left there.
The natural progression from structural woodwork was roofing, and
have been involved with roof coverings since the mid- eighties including
slate and timber shingles.
My metalwork training helped with the lead work side and have produced
one off lead finials and flashings.
My philosophy is the old saying “If a jobs worth doing, it’s worth
doing well” and aim to produce work that not only looks good but is
long lasting.
Only remaining small and working on a one to one basis with clients
allows me to give full attention to their project and attention to
details. |
